As a Team Leader managing interpreters, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of both in-office and remote interpreting teams. Your primary responsibilities will include recruiting, training, and engaging team members, while also managing their performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will be accountable for organizing workloads, providing coaching, and conducting regular one-on-one sessions to foster continuous development.
In this dynamic role, you will act as a point of contact for the team, address queries, and provide necessary authorizations. Effective communication and strong relationships with stakeholders will be crucial as you report on team performance and implement improvements. Additionally, you will plan resources and accommodate ad-hoc requests from management to meet KPI metrics.
Your leadership, organizational skills, and proficiency in English (C1) will ensure that the team delivers exceptional performance, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Team Selection and Training:
• Recruitment: Identifying and selecting qualified interpreters to meet the team’s needs.
• Training: Providing comprehensive onboarding and continuous training to ensure interpreters are proficient and up-to-date with industry standards and tools.
Engagement and Access:
• Team Engagement: Developing strategies to keep both in-office and remote interpreters engaged and motivated.
• Access Management: Ensuring all team members have the necessary access to tools, resources, and information required for their roles.
Performance and KPIs:
• Accountability: Being accountable for the performance of the team against established KPIs.
• KPI Management: Setting, monitoring, and ensuring that daily and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met by the team.
• Performance Reporting: Regularly reporting team performance to the business, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and action plans.
Coaching and Development:
• Individual Coaching: Engaging and coaching team members, ensuring optimal performance and job satisfaction, which includes delivering training, coaching, or one-on-one sessions.
• Monthly One-on-Ones: Conducting monthly 1:1 meetings with each interpreter to review performance, provide feedback, and discuss career development.
Workload Management:
• Delegation: Organising and delegating workloads while monitoring task execution for accuracy and efficiency.
Communication and Reporting:
• Regular Updates: Creating and updating reports to update the company on team and department progress and performance.
• Stakeholder Management: Establishing and managing effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Effective Communication: Facilitating clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, across all levels of the organization.
Resource Planning and Improvement:
• Point of Contact: Acting as a point of contact for the team, addressing queries, and providing necessary authorizations.
• Resource Planning: Planning resources for the team/department to meet KPI metrics.
• Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes within the team.
Ad-Hoc Requests:
• Management Support: Accommodating ad-hoc requests from management as required.
A team leader in this role will have to be adept at juggling multiple responsibilities while ensuring that both in-office and remote interpreters feel supported and valued.
