Senior Surveyor (Chief Surveyor)

The Senior Surveyor is responsible for overseeing and managing all surveying activities on a construction rehabilitation site, including tunnels executed using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM).
This role ensures precise geospatial control, structural monitoring, and compliance with engineering standards, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate accurate execution and safety in construction

1. Surveying & Geospatial Control
- Establish and maintain control networks for the entire construction and tunnel site.
- Conduct topographic, as built, and deformation surveys for earthworks, consolidation works, rail superstructure, structures, and tunnels.
- Perform geotechnical and structural monitoring, measuring ground displacement, tunnel stability, and support system effectiveness.
- Use GPS, total stations, laser scanning, for accurate positioning and data collection.
- Ensure precise alignment and excavation control for tunnels executed using the Austrian Method (NATM).
- Monitor tunnel behaviour using convergence measurement, inclinometer readings, and strain gauge analysis.
- Scanning and validate sprayed concrete layers (shotcrete), rock bolts, steel ribs, and waterproofing layers.
- Verify positioning of rehabilitation works, including bridge retrofitting, retaining walls, and slope stabilization.
- Ensure all surveying work adheres to engineering designs, safety regulations, and railway/tunnel construction standards.
- Verify structural deformations, track alignments, and construction tolerances.
- Detect and resolve discrepancies between design and actual site conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers, geotechnical specialists, and construction teams to optimize excavation sequences and safety measures.
- Maintain and manage survey databases, geospatial models, and technical reports.
- Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Trimble/Leica software for data processing and visualization.
- Maintain, calibrate, and optimize surveying instruments.
- Supervise and train survey teams to ensure operational efficiency.
- Implement real-time monitoring for tunnel deformations and ground stability risks.
- Ensure all survey activities comply with safety and environmental regulations.

Design and execution of the Bucharest Ring Road A0 (South Lot 3), a critical highway project connecting major routes around Bucharest. Design and execution of Sebeș – Turda Motorway, Lot 2, which stretches 24.25 km from Pârâul Iovului to Aiud and was opened to traffic in November 2021.
