The Quality Engineer is responsible for quality assurance activities to ensure quality standards of components as well as assembled products are achieved and maintained. This includes determining production process capabilities, auditing production processes for performance and quality criteria, interruption of incoming goods, manufacturing or shipment process in case of non-conformance, training and coaching of operators on quality techniques and generating reports and documentation.

- Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved corporate quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs.
- Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing and Production to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Analyses failure mode and root cause of customer complaints;
- Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
- Drives implementation of corrective actions;
- Contributes actively in the development of (quality) improvement plans.
- Presence of actual work instructions, FMEA’s and PRC’s of all processes.
- Constantly looking for control of and improvements to production processes, including aspects such as safety and the environment.
- Participate in the activities that develop a Lean/Six Sigma structure in the organization.
- Use the LSS methodology to continuously analyze the result of the processes with the production teams and improve them where possible.
- Perform audits at suppliers to analyze the assurance of improvements.
- Investigate customer complaints, analyze causes and supervise the implementation and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
The Quality Engineer is in direct contact with customers as well as suppliers. In this role he/she not only acts as the ambassador of the company but also needs to demonstrate a high level of integrity and objectivity.
Because of the of the complexity of products and processes, the Quality Engineer collaborates with matrix-driven project teams in which the following different disciplines are represented, such as: R&D, Engineering, Purchase, Production and Logistics. He/she should be able to define his/her own actions and brings this to execution, this requires a large degree of independence of the Quality Engineer.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor Degree in Technical Engineering or experience at that level
- 3 to 5 year’s experience in a leading role in a technical/technological environment;
- Knowledge of Lean and/or Lean/SixSigma techniques at a Black Belt level
- Knowledge required of products, processes and quality systems (ISO 9001 / ISO/TS 16949);
- Initiates independent actions and activities;
- Brings conclusions and / or solutions for complex problems;
- Proactive and customer oriented
- Good interpersonal, intercultural and team building skills;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- Fluent in English
- Is willing to travel
