Combat Designer

As a Combat Designer you will create new combat experiences by designing new character and boss encounters. You will collaborate with peers to define and develop custom functionality for your characters guiding them towards a robust and evolutive implementation. You will also ensure your deliverables integrate well with other game ingredients, gameplay flow and technical limitations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with visual scripting or scripting language experience
- Experience as an AI designer or similar gameplay related role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Have worked on a third person action melee combat game
- Shipped a AAA title as designer
- Strong technical scripting skills and ability to learn new technologies
- Experience scripting in modern engines (Lumberyard, Unreal, Unity, proprietary)
- Animation understanding and fluency
- Professional or personal experience with games in the MMORPG genre (in solo, group, and raid encounters)

Key job responsibilities
- Come up with cool concepts for new combat characters and boss encounters that fit in the world but bring something new and unique to the game
- Write CDDs (character design documents) that communicate your vision to the rest of the team
- Work with the animation team to define timings, distances, and other animation keys which result in responsive, fun gameplay
- Work with programmer to create custom functionality for your characters
- Script gameplay logic
- Work in an iterative manner, where you playtest often, get team feedback and improve your work
- Refine, tune, and polish your work to create highly polished and high quality combat experiences
