Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience as a dispatcher, planner, or in a similar logistics role is a plus.
• Strong understanding of transportation operations and route optimization.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in dispatching software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations is highly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or transportation are a plus.
Job Description
The Dispatcher/Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the daily movement of freight and vehicles. This role involves managing drivers, assigning routes, and ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries while maintaining a focus on safety, compliance, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Route Planning & Scheduling:
• Create and assign efficient routes to drivers based on delivery schedules, customer requirements, and operational priorities.
• Continuously monitor and adjust schedules to address delays, changes, or urgent requests.
• Driver Coordination:
• Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, providing real-time support and updates.
• Ensure drivers comply with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Customer Service:
• Communicate effectively with customers to provide delivery updates, resolve issues, and address concerns.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to support repeat business.
• Problem Solving:
• Proactively address operational issues such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, and last-minute schedule changes.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of delivery schedules, driver logs, and customer communication.
• Generate reports on performance metrics, including on-time deliveries and efficiency improvements.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including hours-of-service requirements.
