We will provide great support for our customers through the journey for building on AWS, provide a frictionless onboarding experience that enables builders to build on day one, provide continuous support through our cloud enablement teams who will also continuously maintain and expand the library of building blocks available. We will ensure that public cloud is secure and compliant by default and available for workloads of all regulatory scopes.

The Cloud Finop’s Engineering team will be heart and soul to that journey, helping define and drive the adoption of Cloud in a cost conscious manner ensuring that teams get the most out of the AWS offering. Driving technical solutions to empower teams while providing guardrails and expertise for technical designs.

A Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the execution and technical implementation of the cloud environment at Booking.com. The Senior Cloud Engineer supports teams transitioning their current public cloud migration from existing environments. This includes assisting teams who have never used cloud before, building tooling, capabilities, and services. Engineers in this role are heavily involved in the FinOps space, helping teams understand the cost-efficiency of cloud engineering through right-sizing, optimal choices, and a mix of technical architecture and design.

Senior Cloud Engineer is also deeply involved in architectural decisions and hands-on work with various programming languages across both infrastructure and some software. The Senior Cloud Engineer is expected to coach and mentor junior engineers and be thought leaders within their teams, ensuring best practices are implemented. Given the varying technical skills and commercial knowledge required across different business units, Senior Cloud Engineer can handle multiple types of work, from product features to infrastructure automation, frameworks, tooling, or services.

Responsibilities:

Is responsible to build software applications by using relevant development languages and applying knowledge of systems, services and tools appropriate for the business area and guide more junior members of the team in this topic (Java, Terraform, CDK, Golang, Node JS, Typescript, C#, GitLab, Harness, CoDeploy, Cloudability, AWS API’s, Artifactory)
Is responsible to own a service end to end by actively monitoring application health and performance, setting and monitoring relevant metrics and act accordingly when violated
Is responsible to address and resolve live production issues by mitigating the customer impact within SLA and too improve the overall reliability of systems by producing long term solutions through root cause analysis
Is responsible to evaluate possible architecture solutions by taking into account cost, business requirements, technology requirements and emerging technologies
Is responsible to identify opportunities for process, system and structural improvements (i.e performance gains) by examining and evaluating current process flows, methods and standards.
Is responsible to deliver clear, well-structured, and meaningful information to a target audience by using suitable communication mediums and language tailored to the audience
