General Job Description:
A Project Manager (PM) at Hofstetter has the responsibility to oversee the planning, quality, ︁︀︂︃︃︈︁︁︉︂and budget of our machinery assembly projects. In this role, the PM is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of system engineering and design to the assembly of components taking place in a workshop.
The primary objective of the PM is to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality machinery within the allocated budget and agreed-upon timelines.
The PM takes care of the acquisition of components and the logistics as per the Incoterms of the contract.
The PM communicates directly with customers and suppliers and coordinates different teams of resources (engineering, assembly, installation, and commissioning) to provide the relevant outcomes for the project.
The PM handles around 10 projects per year, each project takes between 3 to 4 months to complete.
Description of responsibilities
1. Project Planning
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
Define project milestones and critical path activities to monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
Coordinate with stakeholders (Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer, Suppliers) to identify project requirements and align expectations.
2. Quality Management
Implement quality control processes and standards to ensure the machinery meets or exceeds customer specifications.
Conduct regular inspections throughout the assembly process (done by third parties) to identify and address any deviations.
Collaborate with the third-party assembly workshop to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with applicable regulations.
Actively participate to Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) before delivering the machinery.
3. Budget Management
Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, resource allocation, and expenditure tracking.
Monitor project expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.
Provide regular budget reports and updates to management, highlighting any variations or risks.
4. Procurement and Supply Chain
Collaborate with internal teams to identify and procure required components, ensuring timely availability and adherence to project specifications.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage the supply chain effectively.
Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues or delays to minimize disruptions to the assembly process.
5. Risk Management
Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project.
Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize the impact of unforeseen events.
Regularly communicate project risks to stakeholders and implement appropriate measures to mitigate them.
